it there with fairy size furniture. it was her best friend.i am not

Girlfriends
Literary Society
Kathryn Shevelow
Thursday, November 10, 7pm
A woman of rare talents and high spirits, Charlotte Charke
(1713-1760)
was an actress who delighted in scandalizing proper society. The
daughter of Colley Cibber, a brilliant comic actor famous for foppery,
Charlotte was unconventional—even by the standards of her theatrical
family. She raised eyebrows with her disdain for needlework and her
taste for guns, but when she stepped on stage, none of it mattered.
Charlotte seemed destined for greatness. But she would rebel. After
making her reputation by playing men, she began dressing in breeches
offstage as well. In this fascinating work of
socio-cultural history, Kathryn Shevelow captures Charlotte in all her
guises, from her time among the dueling divas of the glamorous Drury
Lane Theatre to her trials as a strolling player and puppeteer, to her
comeback as the author of My Unaccountable Life, one of the
first autobiographies ever written by a woman.
Annex Gallery
Dede Moore's Flying Carpets
Opening Reception: Friday, November 4, 6-8pm
Our first event in November goes back to Loganberry's first beginnings,
with rug merchant Dede Moore. Dede retired in 2001,
but that doesn't mean she stopped travelling and collecting. In fact,
she has more time to travel, more stories to share, and some fabulous
decorative objects. There will be rugs of course, and kilims,
textiles, ethnic clothing and jewelery, pillows, and other interesting
stuff. Come see her latest finds in the Annex Gallery all this month,
and visit her during the Opening Reception to hear some stories, talk
rugs, and celebrate 20+ years of Dede's dealings in woven art.
I hope to see you browsing at Loganberry soon!
peace,
Harriett
