Edible
Books Festival
Saturday, April 1st,
1pm
Co-sponsored by Strong Bindery
If you've heard about our Edible Books
Festival before, and wondered about it or started dreaming up
submission entries, now is the time to act. April Fool's Day comes but
once a year, and the first Saturday of April is the Fool's Day itself
this year! But don't be fooled: this festival is serious good fun,
with prizes, merriment and amusement as we look to see how others
interpret the single, simple rule: create edible art that has
something to do with books. See the FAQ's.
Join the fun.
Submissions: please register with Harriett (harriett@logan.com
or
216-795-9800).

Book Signing
Richard
Montanari, The Skin Gods
Saturday, April 29, 1-3pm
In the past decade, native Clevelander Richard Montanari's novels of
suspense have been published in more than a dozen countries and in
nearly as many languages. His fifth major novel, The Skin Gods
(Ballantine, March 2006), takes place in the
steaming heart of a Philadelphia summer while detectives Jessica
Balzano and Kevin Byrne are trying to catch a depraved killer
with a secret vendetta. Taking inspiration from cinema classics such as
Alfred
Hitchcock’s Psycho,
someone is turning cinematic art into brutal reality.
Stump
the Bookseller Selection of the month
W187: Witch, Children and Junkyard
Remember a purple cover - this was a 1970s book about children who
go over to a yard that has lots of junk in it - children sometimes
disappear and it turns out that the witch is turning the kids into
furniture and such - they are somehow rescued and turned back into
kids. Even as a child I could never remember the name of this book -
sometimes I would come across it at the library out of the blue.

Gretchen Bierbaum: Collage in All Dimensions
Opening Reception & Book Signing: Thursday, April 6, 6-8pm
Show: April 6-30
Two Cleveland girls are authors of a new art book titled Collage
in All Dimensions. Gretchen Bierbaum attended John Marshall
High School on the westside and Trina Gardner attended Cleveland
Heights High, and they met at Kent State University in the 1960s.
Gretchen founded the National Collage Society, Inc in 1982 and Trina
joined the Board of Directors as an officer. Now they have co-edited a
new book using 20 years of the National Collage Society juried
exhibits. The book also includes a brief history
of collage, archival approaches, and images from the award-winning
collages, many of which will be on display in the Loganberry Annex
Gallery. Artists, collage masters, scrapbookers, archivists, and
modern art
afficinados will all enjoy this new look into professional collage art.
I hope to see you browsing at Loganberry soon!
