Harriett recommend= s: poetry-turned-picture books = "I am a fan of illustrated books of poetry for children. I particularly l= ike picture books featuring one classic poem, broken into bits with words= and pictures intermingling on the page. Several poems by Robert Frost ha= ve been rendered by Susan Jeffers and Ed Young; Christopher Myers has rei= nterpreted Jabberwocky by Lewis Ca= rroll; the nonsense poems of Edward Lear are delightful; Amanda Gorman=E2= =80=99s Ch= ange Sings is perfectly illustrated by Loren Long; and Steven Ar= cella=E2=80=99s illustration of Sandburg=E2=80=99s The Fog looks exactly = like Alice, the store cat!"

Today let me tell you about John Keats=E2=80=99 poe= m written for his little sister, =E2=80=9CA = Song About Myself,=E2=80=9D illustrated by Chris Raschka. The lines a= re short so the rhyme scheme is tight, the repetition is perfect for youn= g ears, and the illustrations are playful and joyful.
