Cat recommends = The Island of Sea Wo= men by Lisa See: "This is the heart-shattering, incredi= ble story of a small Korean island with a matrifocal society, spanning fr= om the time of Japanese colonialism in the 1930s, to WWII Japanese and th= en American occupation, continuing through time to modern-day life. Acros= s all decades, the book's main character travels to various countries on = a continuous quest to provide for her family, risking her life to dive in= to water and harvest sea life."

3D"fearloathing"

Devon recommends Fe= ar and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson: "This i= s a crafty blend of travel memoir, American Dream-chasing, and journalism= , with a splash of fiction for effect. This is arguably Hunter S. Thompso= n=E2=80=99s most famous book, having influenced writers across multiple g= enerations. Thompson takes us on a drug-infused journey to L.A. all the w= hile commentating on the prevalent anti-drug culture of the 1960s. This b= ook led to the coining of the term =E2=80=98Gonzo Journalism=E2=80=99, ap= tly named for Doctor Gonzo, from the story."

3D"moveable"

Freddy recommends A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway: "Not a fan of Hemingway? This memoir of a young Hemingway in Paris = takes you on a tour of long-ago Paris, its cafes and his group of fellow = expat cronies of the Lost Generation. Hemingway was a great wine connoiss= eur so pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy the 1920's in Paris."

3D"endurance"

Sarah recommends Endurance by Alfred Lansing: "I love adventure to hard-to-get-to, cold places that I will never = go to (but love to read about), and there are so many I could recommend, = but this is one of my favorites. Shackleton and his crew get caught in th= e ice in Antarctica, and things get worse from there- very, very worse. B= ut they endure, and all live, so there is a good ending, along with a nai= l-biting story."
