Are you ready for the Total Eclipse on April 8, 2024? Like all of Northeast Ohio, we're very excited--and bracing ourselves for crowds! While the eclipse may have more astronomical proportions than anything else on our calendar, Indie Bookstore Day 2024, on Saturday, April 27, is the biggest event in the bookstore universe. We're as excited as ever to host local authors, limited-edition merch, giveaways and games, to celebrate with you! This year, we're excited to team up with many fellow NE Ohio bookstores for a special Indie Bookstore punch card--stay tuned for more details! P. S. Perfect for fans of The Tea Dragon Society and Legends & Lattes, The Baker & The Bard is the gentle, beautifully illustrated story of two best friends who set out on an errand, only to find a magical adventure with an odd fey creature and a herd of giant caterpillars. Fern Haught is an author, illustrator, and adjunct professor based in Cleveland Heights, OH. They love crafting stories incorporating queer characters and their relationships, often set in magical worlds. Their two cats, Binx and Honey, are often looking over their shoulder while they work, and do a great job of being honorary co-authors. Join author Don Iannone for a presentation on his most recent book, Stories From an Hourglass. This memoir tells the life story of Don Iannone, a Greater Cleveland author, professor, poet, and photographer. Here is the story of an ordinary man's struggles and triumphs in making extraordinary use of his life gift. It contains many lessons for readers about overcoming hardship, learning from mistakes, taking advantage of opportunities, determination, love and caring, and ultimately the vital importance of being who you are. Don Iannone holds doctorates in Divinity and Philosophy and is the author of twenty-three nonfiction, poetry, and photography books in addition to numerous articles in academic and professional journals. Join us for the opening of our April art exhibition, Circles and Cycles, featuring the work of the Altered Book Group, a local book-artist organization! These artists twist, cut, and bend books to make visual art out of literary art. Six women artists meet monthly to share their work and exchange ideas. As altered book artists, they transform the original content or structure of books into unique, purposeful or whimsical expressions using a variety of materials and techniques such as collage, assemblage, stitching, painting, printing, and sketching, often pushing the boundaries of the book as a recognizable object. The Altered Book Group is comprised of local artists Jane Berger, Phyllis Brody, Gene Epstein, Amy Jacobs, Pat Pitingolo, and Anne Weissman. | Broadsides & Ephemera Featured Reader: Robert Bernard Hass

Poet, critic, and scholar Robert Bernard Hass is the author of Going by Contraries: Robert Frost's Conflict with Science (University of Virginia Press, 2002), selected by Choice as an Outstanding Academic Title; and the poetry collection Counting Thunder (Wordtech, 2008). He has won an Academy of American Poets Prize, an Associated Writing Programs Intro Journals Award, and a fellowship to Bread Loaf. He teaches American literature, classical literature, and Shakespeare at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
