Judith Angelo: tic / tac/ … o
Opening Reception: Thursday, June 9, 6-8pm
~ second Thursday ~
There might have been much more recent work - and more to say about tictactoe... but Judith broke her wrist. Most of the pieces here are from the last two years' thematic groups: Straw for the Fire - from the writings of Theodore Roethke; and This Is How It Works - inspired by a song by Regina Spektor. Judith's alter-ego Hag - a series-in-process based on actual interior events- will fill in around the edges, and three of her altered book ABCdariums (-daria?) will be open during the opening and available on request for the rest of the month. Special Note: Opening is on the second Thursday (along with Gene's Jazz Hot) for this one, and the show continues through July 2.

Cris Takacs: Paper Repairing Paper
Thursday, June 16, 7pm
~ third Thursdays ~
Damaged paper can be repaired with Japanese tissue and it makes a strong flexible repair. Sometimes a missing area in a page or print is filled in with a piece of paper similar in color, thickness and texture to the original paper. Another way to mend the missing area is to fill it in with a pulp made from old paper. The result can be astonishing. Cris Takacs has been repairing books and prints for over twenty years. She studied under Jan Sobota while he was in the Cleveland area and has taken workshops with the Guild of Book Workers. She will be demonstrating how pulp fill in is done and telling stories.

Mark Twain: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Thursday, June 23, 7pm
~ fourth Thursdays ~
Of all the contenders for the title of The Great American Novel, none has a better claim than The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Intended at first as a simple story of a boy's adventures in the Mississippi Valley, the book grew and matured under Twain's hand into a work of immeasurable richness and complexity. More than a century after its publication, the critical debate over the symbolic significance of Huck's and Jim's voyage is still fresh, and it remains a major work that can be enjoyed at many levels. —Goodreads.com
