Hi Julian,

At last night’s planning meeting, Eva Jones reported that Councilman Griffin referred her to you for possible funding help with our 12th Annual Larchmere Festival, Saturday, July 6.  Denise Moore then mentioned all you had done for a Woodstock event, i.e., security, tables & chairs, music, etc.  Someone also thought the St. Luke's Foundation was funneling their event funding through you.

So, I’d like to talk with you about possible funding help for the 2019 Larchmere Festival when you have time.  I’m generally at the store (12712 Larchmere) or reachable by phone (216-229-5770) M, Tu, Th, F 11am-6pm and Sat 11am-5pm.  However, as I’m often in and out for meetings, etc., an "appointment” would be best so you don’t waste your time coming to the store if I’m not here.
The Larchmere Festival is put together by both Larchmere residents and merchants and is thus a wonderful team-building, neighborhood-strengthening event.  Official hours are 10am to 5pm, but music goes into the evening at various Larchmere restaurants.  Attendance last year, which we hope to increase, was a few thousand people, economically, racially, ethnically, and generationally diverse.  The Festival started years ago as an antiques festival, but it has evolved into a fun, family-oriented event with few antiques but a variety of activities for children as well as adults.  A particularly popular feature is a Chess Tournament run by Mike Jolson and Calvin Marshall of Progress with Chess.  This year we’re also using your list of entertainment and food vendors from our E. 130th Street Gala for ideas and have already contracted with The Twister Girl Balloon Company.  We’ll probably be reaching out to Collective Express (Josiah Britt) also.
Last year, the Larchmere Merchants Association (LMA) contributed $2,000 to the Festival, which had expenses of roughly $2,715 and a net profit of $1,075, excluding the money from LMA.  The proposed budget for 2019 is starting with $4,000 from LMA, with a goal of securing $1,500-2,500 in outside grants so that we can expand entertainment, advertising, and thus attendance.

I’m hoping you can help and look forward to talking with you, Lynne
