Salutations!
Thanks to everyone who
joined us for our 10th
Anniversary party, Local Author Book Fair, Larchmere Holiday Stroll and
Dunham Tavern Antiques Show! It's been a busy month, and now we're
just winding down and helping folks find the perfect holiday gifts.
Did I say just? Silly me....
Stumped by what to give Aunt Sally or nephew Ryan? Try our Gift Advice Form
for a risk-free recommendation.
Extended December hours include
Thursday evenings until 8pm
and Sundays 12-4pm. (Otherwise, it's 10am-6pm as usual, or by
chance or appointment.)
Gift giving is an
art. Try something different... like...
Local
Authors: Sarah Willis has a new novel called The Sound of
Us, and Miram Levin's Defining Women's Scientific Enterprise
was nominated for a Pulitzer! Or try some bagpiping mysteries by
Donald Willis, or some philosophy learned from behind prison walls in
Jeff Traylor's The Epictetus Club. We just sponsored a Local
Author Book Fair, so we have many interesting signed books in stock.
Leatherbound tomes: We have
gorgeous sets of Sir Walter Scott, Longfellow, Tennyson, Swift, Motley
and others.
Travel books: Drool over
turn-of-century
maps in Baedaker's Guides, or great photography of Ireland or Italy.
Vintage children's classics: Try
some classics from Parents
Magazine Press like Miss Twiggley's Tree or an out-of-print
Richard Scarry title. Or the newly published saga of H.A. and Margret
Rey's escape from Nazi-occupied Paris on bicycle, The Journey that
Saved Curious George.
Bookbag: Everyone needs the sexy
new Loganberry

Loganberry Book Club
Started 10
years ago at the request of a friend with out-of-state grandchildren,
this book-of-the-month club continues as a favorite holiday gift idea.
With some basic pointers and guidelines
from you, Loganberry Books can create a customized book club membership
catered to the reading level, interests, and quirks of your loved ones
(or, um, yourself). Three tiers of membership provide the price range
and book quality you seek ($10, $20, or $30 per month). A new book
arrives every month, wrapped in pretty purple paper.
From out-of-print classic picture books to paperback mysteries, and new
board books to illustrated gardening books, let Loganberry surprise you
or your nearest and dearest with a new reading
adventure each month. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

the Bookseller Selection of the month

Y33: Young Witch, broom stick, something silver
I read this book for the first
time in 4th grade- 1987- and my Dad remembers reading it at about the
same age (he was born in 1952). It was about a young witch girl who
wanted to fly (maybe couldn't fly?), there was something silver that
paid a large part in the story- like a silver bird or a salt shaker or
something like that. It was a chapter book, and I know I loved it, but
I can't remember much beyond it.
Annex Gallery
Lori Molesky: Reflections
Opening Reception: Saturday, December 3, 2-5pm
An exhibition of nature photography by local artist Lori Molesky.
Large and small prints, and greeting cards too. The perfect present
for co-workers or family members who have
everything. Slow down and enjoy the details of life...
I hope to see you browsing at Loganberry soon!
peace,
Harriett
