Me, I've always been energized by the colors, cooler temperatures, and smell of the season, and we're gearing up for such exciting events in these next months, it's impossible for us not to be energized by the fading of the light. This September, we've got 8 book signings, 4 book discussion groups, 3 art events--plus 2 new butterflies, and counting! (See "Otis' Corner" below for details.) We're hosting a new event, the GLAAWC Author Showcase featuring local writers of color, just in time to kick off Cleveland Book Week (the Anisfield-Wolf Awards and surrounding events). Many are collectible and hard to find; many were produced as part of The Associated Publishers' (a house based in Washington DC) mission to publish books for Black American readers by Black American writers. Many are listed now on our website, including, pictured here, The Voice of the Negro by Robert T. Kerlin, an anthology of writing by African American journalists and newspaper editors across America in the months leading up to the 1919 Chicago Riots which happened 100 years ago this summer. | Sale!
