From there, two night owl mis= fits discover they each can offer the other something to heal their wound= s and ease their loneliness.

Emma Riva is a novelist and fine arts journalist w= ho has been writing for as long as she can remember. She is a graduate of= The New School, and her fiction has received accolades from the UK-based= Wilbur and Niso Smith Foundation and Rainy Day, Cornell University's lit= erary magazine. Otis' Retirement Party

Otis walked up 14 years ago= and demanded a job. He was persistent, good looking, and quite nimble on= a ladder, so I took him on. It was an excellent decision. He made friend= s with everyone, knew his jurisdictions well, and was stellar with market= ing.

S= ome time after his 10th birthday party (complete with art contests and pa= rty favors), he developed feline diabetes and pancreatitis, both of which= contribute to the other and proved difficult to manage. He's doing fine = at the moment, but he's happier at home these days. You may have noticed = that he isn't in the bookstore as often (and sometimes his little sister = Alice is). I just wanted to make this announcement officially: Otis is re= tiring from Loganberry Books.

Thanks to all his fans and well-wishers, he appre= ciates all your ear skritches and head pats. We'll celebrate with cat-cak= es and raffles, and raise some funds for the W= eirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Oti= s!
