Lemony Snicket: A Bad BeginningFree Preview Screening of the Lemony Snicket Movie!

Just in time to ruin Christmas 2004, a major motion picture starring Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, and Jude Law will expose millions to the unbearable circumstances described in The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room and The Wide Window. Unless you have a taste for dark rooms, sticky floors, stale popcorn, and unhappy endings, steer clear of the movie.  By all means, steer clear of Loganberry Books, which will be passing out pretty free passes to the preview screening on Saturday, December 11th, 10am, at Lowe's Richmond.  Passes available December 9th and 10th.

Exciting new acquisitions

  • Denslow's Night Before Christmas
  • The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone by Tennessee Williams.  First printing of Williams' first novel, 1950, limited to 500 specially bound copies signed by Williams.
  • The first edition of Denslow's Night Before Christmas, 1902.
  • The rare Wonderful Electric Elephant and its sequel On a Lark to the Planets by Frances T. Montgomery (of Billy Whiskers fame), 1903 and 1904 respectively.
  • A new Arcadia publication on Cleveland Area Golf, a pictorial history.
  • Two Dick and Jane primers from the 1930s, back when Sally was just called "Baby."
  • The Country Estates of Cleveland Men, by Thomas A. Knight, Cleveland, 1903.
  • A great customer recommendation:  Skellig by David Almond.
  • and lots of used and rare books in all categories, of course...

A212: Alphabet animal race
This is a book about a race that animals take part in.  There was generally one page per letter, like a zebra used a zeppelin, probably a unicorn on a unicycle, etc.  It was lavishly illustrated and while it didn't have a lot of text, it wasn't for pre-schoolers.  I don't think it could have been originally published after 1982 and probably 10 years prior to that.  All the animals sort of collide at the finish line, and one of them (the rhino?) wins by a horn.  Any help would be much appreciated.
