Book Signing and Author Talk
http://loganberrybooks.com/localauthors/ruhlman-twenty.jpgMichael Ruhlman

Friday, December 7, 7:30-9:00pm, with an Author Talk at 8pm
Popular Cleveland chef and writer Michael Ruhlman will join us on Friday, December 7 to sign copies of his latest cookbooks, Salumi: The Craft of Italian Dry Curing and Ruhlman's Twenty: The Ideas and Techniques that Will Make You a Better Cook. You'll have two chances to get your book signed: once before Ruhlman's talk, and once after, so you can make dinner plans at one of Larchmere's many fine establishments accordingly. (However, rumor has it that Ruhlman will serve up a big pot of Lemon-Cumin Dal, so you might want to save some room.)

Norman Lebrecht: The Song of Names
Thursday, December 27, 7 pm

Martin Simmonds’ father tells him, “Never trust a musician when he speaks about love.” The advice comes too late. Martin already loves Dovidl Rapoport, an eerily gifted Polish violin prodigy whose parents left him in the Simmonds’s care before they perished in the Holocaust. For a time the two boys are closer than brothers. But on the day he is to make his official debut, Dovidl disappears. Only 40 years later does Martin get his first clue about what happened to him. In this ravishing novel of music and suspense, Norman Lebrecht unravels the strands of love, envy and exploitation that knot geniuses to their admirers. In doing so he also evokes the fragile bubble of Jewish life in prewar London; the fearful carnival of the Blitz, and the gray new world that emerged from its ashes.

 Book Signing
BeckerThea Gallo Becker:  Legendary Locals of Cleveland
Friday, December 14, 7 - 8 pm
In 1796, when Gen. Moses Cleaveland founded the settlement on Lake Erie’s shores that would become the city of Cleveland, he opened the way for many dynamic, visionary, and diverse individuals who would not only help Cleveland prosper as one of the greatest cities in the Midwest, but also give the city its unique character. Mobster Danny Greene’s fate was sealed by a car bomb and his life was later immortalized in film. Vernon Stouffer helped revolutionize the frozen food industry and the way Americans eat. Almeda Adams refused to let her disability keep her from making contributions in education and music. And Zelma Watson George found success in theater and, later, politics as a goodwill ambassador and a delegate to the United Nations. Legendary Locals of Cleveland chronicles the fascinating stories of citizens who have impacted the city in political, social, philanthropic, business, educational, scientific/medical, entertainment, and even criminal areas.
