The Larchmere Festival and Author Alley are this Saturday, July 11^th! We have FIFTY AUTHORS participating in Author Alley this year, and we’re tickled purple to see so much writing talent in your own backyard. Please come support these great folks, and partake in the street festival to boot. New this year? A Spoken Word Stage featuring performances by Lake Erie Ink, Karamu House, and our own Broadsides & Ephemera. See you soon!

Larchmere Festival

Larchmere Boulevard is a home-grown Cleveland original, with mom-and-pop shops, unique retail, skilled local services, and a pretty cool bookstore. Every summer, we celebrate with a Festival to highlight our community and our main street. This year, the Festival will feature:

· Author Alley (12-4pm)

· Vintage Goods, Antiques, and Local Crafts

· Martial Arts & T'ai Chi demonstrations by Joe Golden

· 1950s DJ, Dance Contest, and Ariel Clayton, solo violin

· Beat the Chess Master, Calvin Marshall

· Spoken Word Stage

· Children’s activities by East End Neighborhood House

· Food, Food, Food…

Location Details
The Larchmere Festival extends from Kemper to East 121st Street - 10 blocks of shopping and entertainment. We’re just one block north of Shaker Square and the Shaker Square Rapid stop, and the new bike racks on Larchmere feature wonderful old chair splats.

Parking Recommendations: In addition to street, side street, and small lot parking on and around Larchmere, there are three large parking lots reserved for Festival parking. All are free.

Reading Cleveland
Cleveland is renewing its vibrancy while retaining its strong literary and industrial history. Now four photographers - Judy Rawson, Stewart Helberg, Chris Bradlee and Robert N. Brown - have combined to create a photography show telling this story. Stunning local scenes of Cleveland and its book life are available both framed and unframed, and the notecards and bookmarks are awesome. Show runs July 1 through August 1.

Nina Gibans: University Circle: Creating a Sense of Place

The documentary that Nina Gibans and Jesse Epstein have been working on for more than 3 years is a legacy film on the history, public art and architecture of University Circle. It spans from prehistoric glaciers shaping the landscape physically and leads up to today. Many people have been eager participants or resources for the film and many area institutions contributed to it, such as the use of music from the Cleveland Institute of Music. There are more than 50 works of public art and dozens of buildings by iconic architects in the area. The film captures the experience of the 13,000 high school and college students who study in the area, the 37,000 institutional employees and 3,000,000 people who visit annually.

Red and Becca met dancing and when Red asked Becca if she and her fiddle would be willing to join him at an open mic on one of his "don't love me, I'm rubbish" songs, she said yes. Unwittingly, this set in motion the transformation of more than they knew: their music, their friendship, and their lives. One open mic turned into more songs, a motorcycle ride, a kiss on the towpath, a sweet budding romance, and at last a kiss on the altar. Their love of music and each other has tied them together, and they've been singing ever since. Red Brick Rhoades just released their first full length album: This Road.

An avid hiker, he often brings his guitar along to create a spontaneous response to his outdoor settings. Mother Earth (Terra) as artist has given an immense living gallery from the humbling spectacle of her natural wonders to the simple, beauty of a treetop against a blue sky. Her majestic legacy and the magical feeling of awe and peace inspire the compositions of this award winning virtuosic fingerstyle guitarist.
