Larchmere Flea Market & Festival
flea marketSaturday, June 30, 11am-5pm
The dozens of merchants on Larchmere join forces with invited antiques dealers, vintage and specialty vendors, local artists, non-profit resources and community residents for a huge sales extravaganza all along Larchmere Boulevard.  We'll have entertainment too: Luca Mundaca, Gene's Jazz Hot, Xela, Coissos Bom, Flower Clown, and the Euclid Beach Rocket Car!  Interesting workshops include paper marbelling at Strong Bindery, sock puppetry at Loganberry Books, spinning wool at Fine Points.  With over 65 participating vendors, in addition to the merchants who make Larchmere Boulevard their home, it's our biggest event of the season.  At Loganberry we'll feature specials of all varieties throughout the store, on the sidewalk and driveway, as well as the Annex Gallery.  Visit the website for up-to-date details.  See you there!

WulffCayr Ariel Wulff, Born Without a Tail
Saturday, July 14, 1-3pm
When your home has a revolving door for abused and abandoned animals, keeping pets takes on a whole new dimension! Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-rending, Born Without a Tail chronicles the true-life adventures of two animal rescuers living with an ever-changing house full of pets. The author takes us on a journey from childhood through adulthood, sharing tales, (mis)adventures and insights garnered from a lifetime of encounters with a menagerie of twenty remarkable animals.  Cayr Ariel Wulff is a native Ohioan who has worked as an artist for her entire life. This is her first book. Currently, she resides in a log cabin deep in one of our Nation’s National Forests with her lifemate, four dogs and three cats. She attributes her love of animals to having been raised by Wulffs.  Book Surge Publishing, 2007, paperback,  176 pages, $12.95

Judy Eskin:  Collectible Magazines
Thursday, July 19, 7pm
~ third Thursdays ~
In an era of print-on-demand and cheap paperbacks, it amazing to revisit the art and printing of magazines from the early 20th century.  Judy has been collecting for years, and her collection ranges from early Life, Saturday Evening Post, House and Garden and other famous (and not-so-famous) magazines.  Artists range from Margaret Bourke-White, Norman Rockwell, Jessie Willcox Smith, and others.  Show and tells will of course be available.  Suggested Donation: $3

Hungry for Harry?
Like the rest of the world, we eagerly await the release of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, on July 21st.  Loganberry Books will indeed be selling the book, 20% off, and you're welcome to reserve a copy or just come buy one.

For grand events and midnight parties however, there are two most excellent events we recommend:  one at our neighbors Mac's Backs and the rest of the folks in Coventry Village, and the other at The Learned Owl and the entire town of Hudson, Ohio.  Enjoy!

Bloomsday Book Club
Thursday, July 26, 7pm
~ fourth Thursdays ~
We raised a mug of Guinness to Joyce on the official Bloomsday last month at Nighttown, and got to know each other a little better, and renew our interest in tackling this great book.  But we haven't read so far that you can't catch up to us and join the group:  so here's an invitation to the fence-sitters:  read a bit of Ulysses and come share your thoughts with our informal group.

oh, and did we mention that the LitArts room now has air-conditioning?  :-)

peace,
Harriett
